Common billing questions.

Do tokens really never expire?

Yes. A token bought today is good in three years. We do not invalidate balances, and we do not introduce a subscription that supersedes packs.

What currency are prices in?

Swiss francs (CHF). Paddle, our payment processor, accepts cards in any currency and converts at checkout. You will see your local-currency total before paying.

How is VAT handled?

Paddle is the Merchant of Record. They calculate and collect VAT, GST, or local sales tax at checkout based on your billing address, and remit it to the relevant tax authority. You do not need to do anything.

Can I get a refund?

Yes, on unused tokens within 14 days of purchase. Used (consumed) tokens are not refundable. Email billing@backplate.ai with your account email and order reference.

What if a generation fails on your end?

The token is automatically refunded to your balance. You only spend a token on a successful generation.

Why no subscription?

Subscriptions punish irregular use. Most editors work in bursts — a heavy week, then nothing for a fortnight. Token packs match that rhythm. If you want recurring billing, we will add an auto-top-up toggle later.

Can I share a balance across team members?

Not yet. Each account has its own balance. Team plans are on the roadmap for after launch — email us if this is a hard blocker.

Do I need to pay before I can try it?

No. Sign up, verify your email, and you get five free tokens. That covers a full short test of the workflow on real footage before you commit.
